We are living in the Brave New World.

Watching television and seeing the advertisements brain washes us into thinking that doing dangerous or making wrong decisions is the right thing to do. This is showing that Aldous Huxley was right about the new world we are living in, because by watch television we don’t really think about what’s going on around us and the advertisements shown don’t help us make smarter decisions. Overpopulation is another issue that has accurate in the new world that made what Huxley say was true. Overpopulation has hurt our world since there isn’t enough jobs for people and then they can’t help out their families and poverty takes over. Less goods have also had a great impact in the world because items are being overpriced and a lot of people can’t buy them if they don’t have a good job and money. Also the use of technology has had a great affect in our society whether that’s for good or bad use. Huxley believed that technology could be used as a distraction form of propaganda. HAFTA/ WANNA

The similarities I see between my life during high school and after is that I will need to continue during work outside of school or at my job. I will need to be responsible for my work at all times. The differences are that I see is that I’m not going to see my life the same way I do right now. I will become more independent and organized both in my life and working environment. I don’t see a big differences because I feel like I am responsible for my assignment and I will still be responsible later on. The only great change will be that I won’t think the same way. People will not magically transform they day after their graduation, they will take their current habits of mind/word/deed into their next set of daily activities because life will not really hit them until a couple years after they graduate. Then they will look back at life and see everything they did differently or even how they thought differently.

WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT GATSBY

I don’t believe GATSBY was that great of a person because he was obsessed with Daisy and he lied about his life. It seemed like he was ashamed to show people who he truly was. However, he seemed like a good person because he was always so kind to Nick, but that maybe just because he knew Daisy and wanted Nick to see him as a good person. Nick isn’t honest with himself because he hangs out with people with aren’t. He always talked about them behind their backs just like each one of them do. He always reminded himself he is honest and if he truly was he wouldn’t constantly say it. He constantly hangs out with dishonest people because he felt like he fit in with them or he wanted to, so he wanted to see what each of them hide. He respects them and seeks out relationships with them because he wants to know about their life’s and wants to feel like he fits in with them. With the information he gets he can have an interesting life to tell others. “They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- ...

NICK’S CARDINAL VIRTUE

Nick’s cardinal virtue is that he’s one of the fewest honest people he has even kmown. This admission changes the way we look at Nick because no matter who you are you can’t always be honest. His idea is not supported because he has judged people in the last event we read about him like Tom. Nick is an arrogant person because he himself isn’t being honest with himself and does things he doesn’t even actually enjoy doing.
