Fahrenheit 451 questions

I believe Bradbury choose the title “The Hearth and the Salamander” because throughout the first chapter he revels the main character Montag being a firemen.Once he meets Clarisse conflict starts to happen just between himself.  The connection he is creating is that Montag being a firemen is like the fire lizard and his home being the hearth.
From “It was a pleasure to burn. It was a special pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed” (1) the assumptions the readers can make is that Montag is a firemen and instead of putting off fires he causes them. He enjoys see things being burned and seeing how they disappear into the flames.
When the author wrote “With the brass nozzle in his fists, with this great python spitting its venomous kerosene upon the world, the blood pounded in his head...” (1)  Bradbury chose to characterize a fire hose as a “great python”, because the hose in the story isn’t to save people’s life. This imagery is a negative thing because like the great python, the hose his dangerous and damages things.
The symbolic importance of the number 451 is vey important thougout the story, because that number shows how at that temperature in heat everything can disappear and there won’t be nothing standing on earth.  Once those things are gone they realize everything they took for granted.
Clarisse McClellan is first described as her face being “slender and milk white” and she looked surprised and had dark eyes. She was wearing a white dress that “whispered”. What striked Montag towards her was that he felt someone waiting for him which was Clarisse standing there.
The names “Clarisse” and “Guy” are significant because the name Clarisse means gentle and bright, which she is by the questions she asks Montag. The name Guy mean sensible which is why he starts to realize he doesn’t want to live an unhappy life and wants to change.
Clarisse questions him about his life like if she already knew him and asks him if he is happy. At first Montag laughs at the questions, but then he starts to think about his life and realizes he isn’t happy.
We learned that to know if someone is home their homes should be dark, instead of the house having lights on. During this period of time people don’t really have face to face conversations, they just stare at the television all day. In the story “The Pedestrian” the character Mr. Leonard Mead is realated to Clarisse.

What Montag realizes about himself after Clarisse leaves him, is that he comes to realization that he is not very happy with his own life and he just puts on a fake smile every single day. To seem like he is always happy.
The seashells in the story are what we know as earbuds. Mildred uses them to hear ocean sounds.
Montag describes Mildred was having white/light colored skin with dark hair. She seems to be obsessed with the television and starts at it. The marriage between Montag and Mildred’s doesnt seem to be working out. It looks looks like they don’t truly love each other and that it’s forced. After he meet Clarisse, Montag seemed realize what was happing in his own marriage.
The machines used are tubs that clear up their patients stomach. The machines symbolize the fact that humans are not in control of the earth anyone and all types of machines are taking over.
When Montag said “Nobody knows anybody” (14)
Montag finds himself drawn to the window of the McClellan because his home is so dark, sad and very lonely. In the McClellan’s home it seems friendly and happy with all those lights on. The contrast tells readers about society at large because eveyone is so used to seeing the same dark homes in every block and seeing a home with lights seems strange and attracts people to it.

Mildred’s mood is that she is very hungry and doesn’t recall what happened the previous night. Mildred’s conversation with Montag reveals that they aren’t really happy together and they seem to be awkward with each other.
Clarisse visits the psychiatrist because someone makes her go, because she goes out and hikes. Doing those things are odd during this period of time.
“The Hound” is a dog machince that hunts for food. Montag is bothered by the Hound because he feels that someday the Hound is going to kill him. He thinks this because of the way the Hound threatens him.

WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT GATSBY

I don’t believe GATSBY was that great of a person because he was obsessed with Daisy and he lied about his life. It seemed like he was ashamed to show people who he truly was. However, he seemed like a good person because he was always so kind to Nick, but that maybe just because he knew Daisy and wanted Nick to see him as a good person. Nick isn’t honest with himself because he hangs out with people with aren’t. He always talked about them behind their backs just like each one of them do. He always reminded himself he is honest and if he truly was he wouldn’t constantly say it. He constantly hangs out with dishonest people because he felt like he fit in with them or he wanted to, so he wanted to see what each of them hide. He respects them and seeks out relationships with them because he wants to know about their life’s and wants to feel like he fits in with them. With the information he gets he can have an interesting life to tell others. “They were careless people, Tom and Daisy-

MY BEST WRITING

I have a writer’s conference coming up with Dr. Preston, and I am excited to go over my final essay and my big question research posts. I chose these two pieces for specific reasons because I feel like I did my best writing on these posts.
