The week in review

Throughout the week I learned the main ideas of tone. Tone is the authors attitude towards the characters, and towards the reader. The author shows this by the description words used, syntax, diction, characterization, imagery and figurative language.

GATSBY TEST CHAPTER 1-4

Chapter 1 Q: What was the reason Nick went to go visit Tom and Daisy at East Egg? Q: Why was Daisy’s expression so negative when she found out she had a girl? Chapter 2 Q: Why did Tom like to visit Wilson at his garage so much? Q: Why is Tom so violent and why is Mrs. Wilson still in love with him? Chapter 3 Q: Why so peope go to Gatsby’s house for parties without getting invited? Q: Why is it that Jorden likes Nick so much? Chapter 4 Q: Why did Mr.Wolfshein say “old Metrople” was a place “filled with faces dead and gone”? Q: What does Jorden tell Nick about what Gatsby wants him to do, and why doesn’t Gatsby tell Nick directly?

WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT GATSBY

I don’t believe GATSBY was that great of a person because he was obsessed with Daisy and he lied about his life. It seemed like he was ashamed to show people who he truly was. However, he seemed like a good person because he was always so kind to Nick, but that maybe just because he knew Daisy and wanted Nick to see him as a good person. Nick isn’t honest with himself because he hangs out with people with aren’t. He always talked about them behind their backs just like each one of them do. He always reminded himself he is honest and if he truly was he wouldn’t constantly say it. He constantly hangs out with dishonest people because he felt like he fit in with them or he wanted to, so he wanted to see what each of them hide. He respects them and seeks out relationships with them because he wants to know about their life’s and wants to feel like he fits in with them. MY BEST WRITING

I have a writer’s conference coming up with Dr. Preston, and I am excited to go over my final essay and my big question research posts. I chose these two pieces for specific reasons because I feel like I did my best writing on these posts.
