DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

Will reading the article on John Steinbeck I came across a link on “the difficulty art of the friend breakup” what I learned was how a “friend” can talk behind your back because they are jealous of your success. Instead of having people that seem to support you in everything, they  usually change when it seems like you are having a bright future ahead.

THE WORLD IS MY LIBERTY

Short story 1- title: “Icarus” author- Lones Seiber https://www.shortstoryproject.com/library/suspense-stories/ Used to find the book- google, typed “short stories about suspense” What appealed to me about this story was that how some people are willing to help others out to get their freedom. Also that this story was chosen on of “The Best American Mystery Stories 2012” Short story 2- title - “Harrison Bergeron” author- Kurt Vonnegut http://www.shortstoryguide.com/popular-famous-short-stories-to-read-online/ Used to find the book- google, typed “best short stories online” What appealed to me about this story was that the author created all Americans equal, and that no one is better than someone else. However he is trying send a message that eveyone isn’t equal and that they all have unique characteristics which make them different from one another.

HOW TO GET TO GRACELAND

Most of the assignment we do in class I would rather work individually. I feel like when I don’t have others waiting for me to understand something or to solve a certain problem, I feel like I can take my time to understand something in my own way. Although, I usually enjoy being independent sometimes I enjoy reading alone and then discussing it with people to have a better understanding about the main idea. Also to see different point of views and how others see things differently than me and why. I think my experience somewhat aligns with what we saw in the Paul Simon video because when I feel other people have different ideas to a certain topic I usually want to hear how they feel or see something that maybe doesn’t really impact me. Then I can understand why they see things the way they do and I can also put my input so others can understand me.

Strike

I personally agree with the teacher because in all schools around the United States not just Los Angeles, there is a large amount of students in one single classroom. With this issue teachers and students don’t really get to interact or built good relationships with eachother because there’re so many people in one area. Students don’t always understand certain topics or learn quickly like others however, when there are so many students the teacher doesn’t really notice the once left behind. However, I also understand the other side which is while the teachers are on strike the schools are losing a large amount of money because many students aren’t showing up. With this I think both the district and the teachers should get together and solve their problem in a serious way, while the teachers want what they want they are also hurting the students, because they are not doing their jobs and teaching them.
